The Level 3 exam is two exams in one (plus a tasting)

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines theory paper has two parts: 50 multiple-choice questions and a written section with four open-response questions — and you must pass both parts separately. On top of that sits a blind tasting assessed with the Systematic Approach to Tasting. A brilliant MCQ score cannot rescue a weak written paper, which is why a Level 3 mock that only tests multiple choice is telling you half the story.

How our Level 3 mocks work

The MCQ mock draws from 1,576 original Level 3 questions across all 33 syllabus chapters — from viticulture and vinification through every major region to sparkling and fortified — in the real timed format, with explanations after every question. Your first mock is free, no account needed.

For the written section, the open question trainer is the mock: 612 original open questions in the real style, where you type a full answer and get it graded instantly against the question's key facts, exactly how the real paper is marked — one point per distinct fact. One AI-marked open question per day is free.

✓ Treat it as one workout with three stations: MCQs for knowledge, open questions for writing technique, and tasting practice for the third paper.

Why Level 3 mocks differ from Level 2

At Level 2, a mock measures knowledge and pacing. At Level 3, it also has to measure production: can you write six correctly-worded, specific facts about Burgundy under time pressure, not just recognise them in a list? Candidates who only drill MCQs routinely pass that part and fail the written section. Split your mock time accordingly — most people need far more written practice than they expect.
